Autumnal Adelaide Hills

Nestled in the Adelaide Hills is the picturesque town of Hahndorf. It is the oldest surviving German settlement in South Australia and its tree lined roads and old buildings have a distinctly Germanic feel about them. We visited the town on a clear autumn day when the leaves were shades of red, yellow and orange. Hahndorf is the perfect place for wandering aimlessly around the various German themed Christmas shops. You can visit local cheese makers and try samples at a nearby chocolate factory. The town is overflowing with German food, from bratwurst to apple strudel, accompanied of course by tankards of Bavarian beer.
